I LOVE Valentine's day here at school. Everyone is so nice and loving it just cheers me up. However, to make it more of a celebration, we will be doing so on Friday the 16th instead of on Wednesday the 14th the early out day. We have 21 students in our class with 10 girls and 11 boys. The kids have already asked me if they can bring in Valentine's day goodies and that is TOTALLY fine with me. We also will not be making Valentine's Boxes here at school; however, if you would like to make them on your own and bring them on the 16th, I am ok with that too:)
Division-
We are full force on long division. Some of them hate me while others love me for introducing this concept. I would like them all to love me and be proficient so next week, you will start seeing long division homework come home. PLEASE sit with your child if they are confused or need more support. I say this all the time; however, sometimes they might just need someone else to explain it to them to understand it better.
What we are learning the next couple of weeks-
Math- 1 by 2 and 1 by 3 digit division
Reading- predictions, inferring and answering questions -
Language- All types of verbs- helping, linking, action
Writing- Finishing up our poetry unit and starting another expository essay on dinosaurs
Social Studies- Will finish our Heritage Projects and move onto the Lewis and Clark Expedition
Science- We are continuing on with energy and really focusing in on Potential and Kinetic energy
