I can not tell you all how excited I am about the read-a-thon. This is the first year that the whole school will be participating and it is such a fun event. The goal is to get the kids reading and having fun while doing so. We are asking all the students to try and read 30 minutes a night for 10 straight days(Total of 300 minutes). A reading log will be sent home and thats where the minutes will be tracked by the parents or students. A BIG packet was sent home on Friday with lots of information so please make sure you read it. I will try and break it down below.
BREAK DOWN OF THE READ-A-THON:
1) It is 10 days of reading outside of school for 30 minutes
- If your child read the goal of 300 minutes during those 10 days, they will get a fun little prize
2) Kids can get " Pledges" to sponsor them when reading. It can either be a one time sum or a per minute pledge.
- Your students DO NOT NEED to get sponsors to participate in this
- There will be a prize for every student that gets 5 sponsors
3) There are dress up days for of the 10 days we are doing the Read-A-Thon. I have listed them on the home page
4) Parents/studets will track their minutes read at home
- There will be a 1st, 2nd an 3rd prize for the top minutes read
- I will also do a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for just our class :)
